1750, Dr. Thomas Walker built the first house in Kentucky, you can visit a replica at Dr. Thomas Walker State Park located here in Knox County. In 1775 Daniel Boone cut the first trails throughout the region, you
can trace his footsteps on the Boone Trace Trails located throughout Knox and surrounding counties. At our civil war park you can stand in the location of the first civil war battle in the state of Kentucky.
Along with other first, in 1929 Knox County elected the first female sheriff in the state of Kentucky, Mrs. Jennie Walker. Knox County has plenty to do, visit

Knox County industry has seen growth while many other local economies have not been as fortunate. With ground work being done on a new race track for Keeneland along the northern part of our county and the progress of the
